Water Prices to Rise in Summer

February 28th, 2010

What a Con!

Southern Water is planning a 6% price increase during the summer months to “encourage everyone to save water.”

What an absolute load of bull!

If this “reason” has been dreamed up by their marketing team, it’s time they considered another occupation.

This is just another devious way by which a Utility Company that made over 334 million pounds last year will further increase it’s profits and flex its muscles.

Southern Water’s Customers include the hundreds of Growers who supply our supermarkets with summer salads, so obviously the healthy produce that our Granny State encourages everyone to eat will increase in price at twice our annual inflation rate!

It will be interesting to see if Ofwat – the price Regulator – allow this con to take place.

What will happen when the supermarkets learn they can buy salad produce cheaper from Europe and many Growers are left with rotting waste?

These same Growers will be driven out of business for the same reason that more than 200 Channel Island tomato Growers have been forced to close down – because they couldn’t reduce their wholesale price sufficiently to allow the supermarket chains to make huge profits.

The British Manufacturing Industry was killed off by Mrs Thatcher – she allowed them to die to rid herself of Trades Unions because she couldn’t control them.

It looks like the British Growing Industry is going the same way – this time through Corporate Greed!

I was laughed at when in 2005 I wrote that within 5 years large Corporations, Utility Companies and Financial Services would rule the roost!

I don’t hear anyone laughing now!

Can this really happen?

If urgent action isn’t taken to curb the greed of 2% of our natio, jobs will continue to vanish and unemployment will rise beyond 6 million within 5 years.

Without insufficient revenue in the form of income tax and national insurance contributions to continue to support the NHS, free medical care will be a thing of the past.

No benefits will be paid because we won’t be able to borrow any more money to pay for them because we continue to default on our interest payments.

Mob rule will dominate the lawless streets of Britain, property and valuables belonging to the most vulnerable will be looted and stolen while millions die homeless, hungry and disease ridden!

One line of Rule Britannia says:”Britain never never shall be slaves.”

I, and several thousand more have decided to question this and so, after a lot of realistic thought, should you.

Why? For the simple reason that only decisive positive action by you and millions more like you can do anything to save this country!

Think about it!!

Solving the Problem of Obesity in Britain

February 26th, 2010

First of all, let’s define Obesity

An individual’s weight increases to the extent that it seriously endangers their health.

Obesity is diagnosed when your Body Mass Index (BMI) exceeds 30. You can easily do this by logging onto http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

This is the essence of the problem we need to solve

  1. 23% of British adults are obese.
  2. 26% of British Children under 10 are overweight or obese.
  3. These percentages are expected to increase.
  4. We will be faced with more obese related health problems than our NHS can afford to cope with by 2015.
  5. Already overweight or obese children cannot be expected to take weight loss advice from their overweight or obese Mums and Dads. Nor are these Mums and Dads setting an example to their children by preparing a healthy meal for them while they eat the fast fattening food their children have become accustomed to eating.
  6. How do we get the message through to the 23% of adults, many of whom are parents that they need to take positive action about their weight immediately?
  7. How do we encourage these obese parents who are taking positive action to also enforce this exercise on any of their obese children?
  8. How do we get this same message through to overweight or obese over 50’s?

Points 6, 7, and 8 are as far as we should initially go despite being aware of 10’s of thousands of others out there who also need to be told that they’re slowly killing themselves.

This is a huge problem that will not be solved in one fell swoop so we must first concentrate on those most at risk whose weight related illnesses will cost the Tax Payer the most money.

Are we agreed that parents of young children, children themselves and over 50’s are the 3 categories most likely to cost the Tax Payer most?

Why?

  1. If parents are obese they’re unlikely to have the energy required to look after a young child, even worse if they take ill or become too obese to cope, will the child or children need to go into care?
  2. Many obese children cannot fully interact with other children so will loose self esteem and may even be bullied because of their size.
  3. Overweight or obese over 50’s may find it difficult to loose weight without support.

Possible and easily achievable Solutions

  1. Every mother and father of young children will be asked to attend their GP for an MOT to include blood tests and bring any of their children under age 10 with them. GP’s will receive funding for this.
  2. Concentrating first on the obese Mums, Dads and under 10 children the family will be strongly advised to immediately adopt a more healthy lifestyle and given a list of everyday quick meals and fast foods to avoid.
  3. They’ll also be given a recommended and affordable healthy eating plan – not an enforced diet.
  4. Finally they’ll be invited back 1 month later for a further checkup.
  5. Exactly the same process will take place for all over 50’s.

We don’t live in a Police State

For this reason no obese parent or child can be forced to attend or adhere to any healthy eating plan.

Although what I’m about to suggest goes against everything I believe in, it may ultimately be necessary to charge any parent who fails to attend their GP for treatment in respect of any health problems that beset their family as a direct result of obesity.

The NHS can’t afford an obesity epidemic, nor can the British Taxpayer so somebody has to pay!

This is just a first step that I’m certain many of you will be more capable or qualified to expand on.

I’ve concentrated only on the cost to Tax Payers because that’s how the Department of Health thinks.

Frighten the hell out of obese people!

Finally a List of Health Risks related with obesity should be posted on Bill Boards everywhere, published in newspapers and every place of employment and include:

Sleep apnea – Type 2 Diabetes – Stroke – Cancer – Gallbladder disease – Respiratory problems – High cholesterol – High blood pressure – Coronary heart disease – Degeneration of bones and cartilage.

Six of these can KILL!

This is one TV Campaign I’d truly love to write myself.

I should in all honesty add that I’m obese having recently lost 47 lbs in 12 weeks with only 56 lbs more to loose to reach my ideal weight of 17 stone (238 lbs). I won’t ever be overweight again!

Only John Terry can finish this

February 26th, 2010

Things have now gone far enough

The media aren’t going to stop with this John Terry thing until they’ve completely destroyed an innocent man, Wayne Bridge.

He has done absolutely nothing yet his ex-girlfriend is getting involved by slagging him off to the media for his decision to pull out of the English World Cup Squad.

What the hell business is it of hers anyway now? She was the one who had an affair with John Terry, her boyfriend’s best friend and became pregnant – she has another life to consider now – her child.

If she wasn’t happy with her boyfriend she always had the choice to leave!

Put yourself in Wayne Bridge’s position, would you want to share a dressing room with a former best friend who had been banging your girlfriend behind your back?

At least he proved himself a better man than me because I’d have beaten John Terry senseless and gone to prison!

There is a solution to begin the healing process

I agree with Wayne Bridges that he should have at least heard John Terry apologising or showing some remorse for his stupid actions.

John Terry must stand up at a Press Conference and apologise to his Wife and children, his former best friend and everyone who has loyally supported him over the past few years for being a 2 faced Pratt.

If he doesn’t he’ll be announcing to the world that he’s quite content to destroy his former best friend’s career and of course warn everyone round him that he’s the last person they should trust as a friend.

I assumed after I wrote my last and only piece immediately after the news exploded onto the front pages that John Terry would have been man enough to do this after he had spoken with his Wife.

I sincerely hope he doesn’t consider apologising as a sign of weakness or he’ll very quickly be regarded as an egomaniac who considers only his own feelings.

As for his fellow professionals

Quite a number of you are proven cowards by anonymously briefing the press with insulting comments about Wayne Bridge.

Haven’t you the balls to slag Bridge off to his face or put your name to a comment less your Manager finds out where the leaks usually come from at your club!

The England Squad

How can any of them concentrate on what they need to do when there is so much going on to distract them from keeping their minds on the most important thing in their careers – the World Cup!

Over 50% of Brits are Addicts

February 25th, 2010

The first of 4 Posts

98% of Brits associate the term Junkies with drug addition, blindly refusing to admit the fact that a great majority of us have what is known as an Addictive Personality.

I’ve listed Britains Top Ten addictions, some of which aren’t in the least life threatening, to prove my point:

  1. Class “A” and “B” drugs including many prescription drugs
  2. Alcohol
  3. Food
  4. Smoking
  5. Gambling
  6. Coffee
  7. Facebook
  8. Cosmetics
  9. Shopping
  10. Sex

Numbers 1 to 4 inclusive have been categorised by the BMA as potential killers.

33% of Brits play Russian Roulette every day with their Health

33% of our population are voluntarily shortening their lives through drugs, obesity, alcohol and smoking.

That’s almost a third of our population!

I could have increased this percentage substantially but decided to allow generous overlaps in respect of the unknown number who may smoke, be addicted to drugs and alcohol and assume that a few of these may be also obese.

23% of Brits are obese, although this figure is rising as increasing numbers of seriously overweight patients visit their GP’s with health problems, many of which are life threatening.

Government statistics relating to drug and alcohol abuse are grossly under estimated for 2 reasons:

  1. Thousands of addicts are able to hide or deny their dependence for months, even years until their addiction begins to affect their work and family life.
  2. Government realised the inaccuracy of their statistics on alcohol abuse and commissioned a rather weak advertising campaign that will achieve absolutely nothing.

Encouraged by Wet Liberal Lobbyists and bad advice from their political Spin Doctors, New Labour made a serious error when they banned smoking in many public places treating Smokers like second class citizens.

2,700 pubs closed during the first 12 months with an initial loss of over 7,000 jobs.

The fact that Government legislation resulted in over 7,000 decent people loosing their jobs has become a taboo subject in Downing Street.

Co incidentally, Mr Cameron hasn’t dared raise it either at any PM’s question time because he did nothing to defeat the legislation.

If you or I have a problem we fix it!

With the general election looming there won’t be many problems solved between now and May so why don’t we make an attempt to solve them ourselves?

It sounds so easy doesn’t it?

Common logic screams that there’s always an answer to every problem but then few of us associate the word Politician with logic making it more important that we do the thinking ourselves!

Providing we analyse each problem with the same logic we apply to solve a jig saw puzzle, starting with the small pieces and determining how they fit together to form the whole picture we should arrive at a constructive answer, a solution.

Does that make sense?

I’d like to deal with the three most dangerous forms of addiction (in my opinion), drugs, obesity and alcohol because I consider then to be faster killers than tobacco.

I also need to remember that this is a Post and not a 2 hour brain-storming session so may we deal with each of these 3 problems separately in 3 different posts please?

This will also give you some thinking time to consider how you would solve 3 problems that are already costing us, the Tax Payers in excess of 14 Billion Pounds each year – that’s 14 thousand million pounds – 22.4 thousand million dollars!

How many jobs could we create with this saving? Although it wouldn’t even cover the Banksters’ bonuses!

I’ll post my suggestions relating first to our obesity problem tomorrow at the latest!

Convicted Criminal – still Senior Metropolitan Police Officer

February 24th, 2010

This could only happen in Britain!

Would you be appalled to learn that a convicted felon, a senior Metropolitian Police officer hasn’t yet been officially sacked?

The politically correct system that we’re all now obliged to conform with is an absolute insult to every decent person in Britain.

What a slap in the face for every proud Police man and woman who do an increasingly difficult job!

Ali Dizael is presently serving a four year sentence for assault, false arrest and attempting to frame someone. In other words he’s been to Court, been found guilty and sent to prison.

As far as I’m concerned, that should mean automatic termination of his employment as a Policeman or am I being unduly “unfair” to this unfortunate Policeman who broke the law and was unfortunate enough to get caught?

Perhaps he’s a friend of Boris the Tory Mayor of London who hasn’t to my knowledge objected or offered any explanation as he’s now in charge of the Metropolitian Police.

Nor have we heard any comments from Mr Cameron or the Justice Minister, Jack Straw!
