£55 Price Tag on a Pint of Beer

March 9th, 2010

In 1980 there were 69,000 Pubs in the UK

By 2006 the number was reduced to 58,200.

Over a period of 26 years this represented the loss of 16% of the total number of Pubs (0.6% per year)

2006 – 2009 was a different Story

During these short 3 years a total of 4,634 Pubs closed increasing the closure rate from 16% in 26 years to over 8% in just 3 years (2.7% per year).

We shouldn’t forget that the Government’s Smoking Ban in Pubs was introduced on 1st July 2007.

Not only are we loosing some of our favourite Local Pubs, but the Government has once again shot itself in the foot to appease a few thousand Wet Liberals and Religious Dickheads who oppose pubs.

The Exchequer is loosing in excess of 250 Million Pounds each year in taxes!

You may argue that the Government are recouping much of this from the increased alcohol sales in Supermarkets but this just isn’t reflected by Government figures.

So how many Pubs will remain by 2050?

Based entirely on the above figures that have been supplied by the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) when the much debated 2050 eventually arrives, the UK will boast fewer than 500 Pubs!

How much will a Pint cost in 2050?

If you believe the forecast figures produced by perfectly reputable organisations on the Internet, you’ll be told that a Pint will cost only an extra 6 Pence – but you don’t seriously believe this – do you?

The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) announced in February 2010 that we could expect the cost of a pint to be 4 POUNDS before the end of this year.

If we’re guestimating the price of a Pint in 40 years from now perhaps it would be logical to go back 40 years and check the cost.

I’m distraught!! A Pint of beer in 1970, the year before decimalisation was a penny less than 2 shillings or 10 Pence as we all know it now. but then the average weekly wage for men was only 28 Pounds a week.

The average weekly wage today is calculated at 440 Pounds a week.

Conclusions

1970 – Pint price (10 Pence) approximately 0.8% of the average wage

2010 – Pint price (4 Pounds) approx., 0.8% of the average wage.

2050 – Guestimated average wage will be an astonishing 6,908 Pounds.

2050 – Pint price (55 Pounds) approx., 0.8% of the average wage.

Before you burst out laughing, what reaction would you have received in 1970 if you’d told anyone that their average weekly wage of 28 Pounds would be 440 Pounds in 2010?

AND that instead of 10 Pence, they’d pay 4 Pounds for a much inferior Pint in 40 years time!!

The real reason Pubs are closing so quickly

Supermarkets have, over the past 40 years successfully put the majority of small shopkeepers out of business and made the UK Government’s own Milk Marketing Board defunct.

They then turned on the British Beef Industry that decided to export their produce rather than sell at a loss to the Supermarket chains.

Channel Island Tomato Growers were next with 200 of them being forced out of business – the supermarkets now buy from Spain and Portugal.

What makes you think that our Pubs weren’t next in line because I can assure you they have been for the past 4 years.

This was highlighted when the Government kicked up about the low cost of beer and lager sold in Supermarkets but did nothing about it other than make a deal with these huge Corporations that they would knock the Pubs’ “Happy Hour” on the head to damage the pub trade further.

Of course the ridiculous smoking ban also helped a great deal.

Supermarkets have everything you want under one roof – you buy your food, booze and tobacco and consume everything at home – these vast Corporations have the ear of each Government because they pay Billions in taxes every year and employ hundreds of thousands.

Does this sound like a Conspiracy?

Let me assure you – this doesn’t sound like any conspiracy – IT IS ONE!

You are the Public – You need to be controlled – You are slowly but surely being conditioned to conform.

Pubs and corner shops are places you meet / or have met to talk about stuff that matters to you – you soon won’t – which means fewer of you will be able to listen to different opinions other than what you’re spoon fed by the media that’s owned by large Corporations

Think about this because you really are being slowly conditioned to think how Government and large Corporations want you to – in fact Tony Blair and G.W. Bush spoke quite openly about this to close friends during 2001.

Incidentally, if you think I’m talking a load of crap – PROVE ME WRONG!

Members Only Village Pub

February 17th, 2010

Members only Pub

I had a fantastic conversation with an old friend who now lives in the deep South of England about his village Pub.

Just over a year ago the long term Owner’s son went home to live with his parents when he got divorced to find them both distraught.

After almost 20 good years running their Free House they had decided to call it a day because custom had trailed off to a trickle.

Both parents now owned both the Pub and the small cottage next door where they had happily lived for almost 8 years.

The son, a complete entrepreneur had, until his divorce run a busy High Street Pub with his ex-Wife that was sold as part of the divorce settlement.

He put an idea to his parents and offered to back it with his own personal savings – they immediately agreed.

He first redesigned the whole Pub to suit the tastes of the now younger village population totalling 491.

Free Coffee Evening

Every household in his and the small adjoining village, totalling 631 people received an invitation to a free coffee evening at the newly refurbished “Private Club.” for some exciting news.

A week later he announced to a very full house that during refurbishment he had successfully applied for permission to open a Private Members Only Club that would sell both drinks and great food with a separate family room completely divorced from the main bar and dining room.

He had also created a small banquet room upstairs (70 covers) directly accessible from the car park.

These would be available with full catering for all occasions.

In addition, drinks and food prices would be at least 25% cheaper than any of the surrounding pubs AND transport would be available to ensure everyone got home safely every night.

Soft drinks are a third cheaper than most Pubs.

Everyone home safely

He had calculated a maximum of 5 late minibus trips totalling a maximum of 50 miles.

The Villagers loved the idea, particularly when they discovered that a Life Membership would cost them only £20 per household.

Profits are more than good

He has a full house – 40 to 50 and a busy dining room – almost every week night and is ably helped by Mum and Dad and staff, of course

Friday and Saturday evenings create more profit than his Mum and dad used to make in a week when times were good!

The banquet room already has 34 bookings this year so far.

My friend’s Wife is particularly impressed by the new fully heated Smoking Area – 7 foot high decking – a generous open air space and a well pinned canvas canopy roof – with adequate seating for up to 40 people.

How many village Pubs could learn from this fantastic idea? Besides, a Private Members Club is also trouble free!

Britain hates Sexy Young Women!

February 15th, 2010

I just read something a few minutes ago that made my blood boil

A recent poll of British women reported that 30% thought that females who didn’t cover up and wore revealing clothes were inviting rape.

23% thought that anyone who danced provocatively in a club was partially responsible if they were later attacked.

15% thought likewise if they accepted a drink from someone who later attacked them.

Of 1,000 people taking part in a poll in London 18% considered that most rape allegations were false.

There were more statistics, but I’d already had enough.

First of all about women covering up

Who the hell do you think you are passing judgment on anyone who has a lovely figure wanting to show it off.

Are you some fat frump, a dried up old spinster or did you loose your man to a younger woman?

We have the most beautiful young and not so young women in the world.

I’m a very happily married man whose Wife would be seriously worried if I didn’t appreciate a beautiful woman – after all I am married to one!

I place a great deal of blame on the Police who predominately send a man to question a distraught victim of rape. Now that’s absolute and total discrimination.

Next to be blamed is our male dominated Judicial system who have absolutely no sympathy for victims of rape during a trial when clever male QC’s are allowed to question the victim about past sexual experiences.

This shouldn’t ever happen and I include a victim who works as a prostitute!

Finally, the perverts who commit any form of sexual attack on a woman or for that matter a man should first have the living shit kicked out of him or her and spend the rest of their lives doing the hardest labour possible.

Dancing provocatively in a club

So how would they like a woman to dance – dressed head to toe in a potato sack and jump up and down?

This is the UK not the Middle East!

What for that matter is their definition of provocative?

Many women are just naturally sexy when they dance, particularly after a few drinks – Are they being denied the right to enjoy a few drinks and let their hair down?

If these judgmental Dickheads consider that the world is too bad a place nowadays for anyone to act provocatively isn’t it time they demanded harsher punishment for the Predators?

Women, young or old have the right to be alluring and provocative!

It is their world as well!

Accepting a drink from a stranger

Children are warned never to accept anything nor even speak to a stranger but then they don’t go out with the intention of socialising with strangers.

Young adults and many older ones as well go out for what they hope will be an enjoyable evening, some of them hoping to find romance.

How many of you met the person you eventually fell in love with in a pub or club?

I bet one of you, a stranger, bought the other a drink that was accepted.

There are too many puritanical hypocrites who tar everyone with the same tainted brush and brand young women slags when they have too many boyfriends.

These same pinheads regard the young men they know who have lots of girlfriends as Romeos or young stags!

My advice to all of you judgmental prunes is – go get a life!

18% of rape allegations are false

What an indictment of fellow human beings.

If anyone wants to read an article I wrote last year about rape on the article’s page of my other website you’ll discover some startling facts about this subject to prove everything I’ve said.

My advice to all my fellow human beings

Should you ever be asked a question on a topic that affects the lives of others think long and hard before spouting crap you’ll later regret or otherwise decline to answer then research the subject and learn the true facts.

I decided to go Lyrical

Ode to the Watering Hole

Ode to the watering hole where we went to relax
For a pint, a smoke to debate current facts
A place we could go to meet neighbours and friends
Stay behind for the lockup we all hoped never ends

But our Granny State Rulers didn’t like what they saw
They’d show disapproval by changing the law
Put a stop to mass meetings and quickly revoke
Our enjoyable right to a drink AND a smoke

Can you write equally bad rubbish?

52 Pubs closing every week

January 31st, 2010

Where has all the Pubs gone?

Clinton Manning wrote an article on 27th July 2009 in the Daily Mirror that 52 pubs were closing in the UK every week. That’s 2,704 every year.

Has your local pub closed? Perhaps you live in a small village (I do) – what would you do if your village pub closed? – Mine did almost a year ago and is still sitting empty.

Young people where I live go into the nearest town or city at the weekend for a drink or several.

Do you enjoy going out at the week end? Have you any funny stories? Is there a huge Police presence at kick out time?

Perhaps you go on to a club later – How do the prices compare with pub prices?

Drugs and Alcohol

Do you consider you’re more susceptible to experimenting with drugs when you’ve had a few drinks?

Have you been offered drugs in pubs or clubs? I’m really interested to hear your stories and listen to your comments.
