Have you been watching Glen Beck recently?

February 12th, 2010

Who is Glen Beck?

He’s an American Broadcaster, based in New York who hosts two daily programmes, one on radio, the other on the Fox News Channel.

His views certainly conform with Fox’s often “fair and balanced” extreme Republican politics and have certainly made him one of the top Presenters in America.

Although I don’t agree with many of his opinions or presentations he makes people think and question a lot of stuff they wouldn’t normally hear about while demonstrating everything on a blackboard before their eyes.

TV Channels in the UK “shelter us” from subjects we don’t know about and need to know about.

Why am I taking the trouble to write this?

Although I filter the news I watch on TV, in other words listen to what people are saying then decide what they really mean, some people don’t.

When they listen to someone who comes across as a genuine person they may sometimes take everything they hear as gospel.

Then what do they do? They go into work the next morning and debate it with their colleagues some of whom have different opinions.

This triggers the democratic process.

Fortunately (not for you), you’re unaccustomed to being trusted to make your own mind up when you watch UK Television Channels because there isn’t anyone, anywhere, in news, current affairs, politics, in fact any discussion programme that’s too controversial.

You see, UK citizens unwittingly enjoy a permanency of smart and invisible TV censorship because no existing TV Company will hire anyone likely to upset too many viewers.

Successive Governments encourage and condone this because they don’t want a country full of citizens openly discussing controversial matters.

Look what happened when millions of UK citizens said NO to war in 2003, they poured onto the streets and embarrassed Mr Blair – Bless!

Okay a few Presenters may accidentally swear and lots of comedians deliberately let loose, but then most of their material is so tame that they need swear words to liven it up and get laughs.

What a sad country we live in!

Do you remember when the BNP guy appeared on Question Time?

What a fuss about nothing. If he’d been invited onto the panel years sooner, the BNP wouldn’t enjoy the support of almost 3 million of our citizens today. What a dip stick he proved himself to be.

Can you think of anyone on TV who makes you splutter with rage when they vigorously defend opinions you oppose or alternatively challenge those politicians you dislike so much?

Mr Paxton is probably your immediate choice but compared to Glen Beck, he’s just a cuddly bear!

Can you imagine the fun you could have had over the last 12 months watching Banksters, Speculators, British Gas, Bank Regulators, thieving MP’s and Party Leaders being robustly interviewed by a Rogue Presenter?

But then you’d have found out too much too quickly and had too many questions that Government didn’t at that time have answers to.

What questions do you want answering?

What do you really want to know about?

TV and Movies

How much time do you spend watching TV?

I’m convinced that too many of you waste too much time watching TV that you could be using to earn an extra income doing a part time job or starting your own marketing business online.

We’re all entitled to our opinion – well to date anyway.

National Censorship and more Spy Cameras?

I fully expect that whatever Party get into Government later this year will consider censoring the amount of violence on TV Movies and Drama Programmes because according to their experts you watch a violent programme then proceed to either commit violence at home or attack the first person you see on your way to work.

Within 10 years, television manufacturers will be asked to install a camera inside your TV so you can be observed at all times.

Think about it. Am I obsessed? Don’t you think this will ever happen?

Less TV and more Education

Didn’t you know that your children should be reading classic books like Gulliver’s Travels or Moby Dick and at least twice a month the whole family should sit round and read Shakespeare together instead of watching television?

There really are a number of Wet Liberals who believe this.

What would you do if you were told you had to?

Remember, you already allow the Food Police at Junior Schools to confiscate unsuitable food that you pack in your child’s lunch box.

Has this happened to you yet? It’s actually happening at schools in South Yorkshire!

I enjoy watching some late night TV and have to admit to preferring rubbish according to many of my peers – My two current favourites are NCIS (the original) and all the CSI series.

What about you?
