I paid my Phone Bill today and guess what?

February 3rd, 2010

I thought seeing I’d levelled a fair criticism against British Telecom a couple of days ago it was time to pay my bill before I was disconnected.

I spoke to a charming lady called Julie, chatted to her for a few minutes, paid my bill and explained why I had publicly complained.

We discussed my account including my BT Broadband connection that frankly I’ve never had a problem with and she suggested a number of ways by which I could reduce my monthly bill.

I thought nothing more of it until she telephoned me an hour later and made me smile with delight when she told me that my bill would be approximately £9 less each month from now on.

When I added the VAT there was a monthly saving of £9.50.

After criticising them publicly they actually rewarded me by giving me £114 a year.

A good days work by all.

Thanks Julie.

I’ve never had anyone from British Gas, Yorkshire Water or my Council Tax office telephone me to explain how I can save money!

Thanks BT shame you don’t have another couple of hundred Julies!!

A compulsory Capital Injection the BT way

February 1st, 2010

A thoroughly legal way to hustle you for money

BT has devised a wonderful method of forcing its Customers who are billed monthly into making an involuntary Capital Injection.

Some devious accountant acting for BT thought of the perfect scam to extract a one of lump sum from all BT Customers next month.

They’ve changed their billing period and added just a couple of days to it so you’ll receive your phone and Broadband bill later but are required to pay for the extra days.

For example my bill increased from £56 to £75, a total of £19 more.

I telephoned them to find out why and after waiting the normal 20 minutes in their queue was calmly told that BT had announced this on their website and had chosen not to write to their Customers.

How many of you visit BT website on a regular basis?

I just had a good look and had to literally search for the explanation!

If all BT’s 5 million UK Customers have to pay the same extra amount as me, BT could raise a cool £95 million in one fell swoop.

Nice capital injection BT. I just want to know the real reason why you’ve done this.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Do you consider they’re pushing their luck or am I just being a sensitive soul?
