I Think I’m Getting Cranky!

January 31st, 2010

I wrote before going to bed one dark October night (2008) and although I’m vitally aware of the short public memory that devious and greedy perpetrators rely on, this is one event you should never forget

I Think I’m Getting quite Cranky!

Anyway, just when the elite “spin doctors” had all of us searching for the Terrorist under our beds, most of our Banks deleted the word “prudence” from their criteria and embarked on a series of irresponsible and speculative lending practices.

They timed this to perfection because the Government Regulators had all managed to get their heads firmly stuck under their own beds looking for these terrorists and didn’t notice a thing!

Dumb and Dumber

Perhaps the simple truth will reveal that these Regulators (Dumb and Dumber) were consistent only in their negligence while the greedy, incompetent Banks threw money at anyone who could catch in order to further increase their profits.

They panicked in unison when they “discovered” the resulting hundreds of billions of losses. Their reckless irresponsibility created what we all now refer to as the “credit crunch.”

This in turn adversely affected personal and business lending, and gave a new meaning to the term misery in the housing market and subsequently the building industry.

The Northerm Rock’s Regulator highly rewarded for screwing up

You may remember our Government actually intervened to save the Northern Rock Bank when its management inconceivably ran it into bankruptcy and nationalised it at a cost of 25 billion pounds to the taxpayer.

A serious offer to buy the Northern Rock was rejected while Mr Brown exercised “political expediency” (tax payers’ money)!

The fact that Regulators still refuse to prosecute any member of the management stinks!

The FSA Regulator in charge of overseeing the Northern Rock was rewarded for his inefficiency with a £530k pay off! The departing CEO of Northern Rock received £750k and a pension pot of £2.5m!

I really need someone to explain why we, the tax payers are obliged to reward anyone for failure!

But what has ticked me off more than anything is the fact that not a single person, man or woman from any of these “Financial Institutions” had had the spunk to immediately stand up and say “sorry”!

Politicians are like headless Tailor’s Dummies

The politicians are as usual acting with the aptitude of headless tailors’ dummies. It’s obvious to anyone who’s been dead for a year that the FSA Regulators screwed up in harmony!

Why hasn’t our Government set up a specialist task force to investigate the FSA and each and every Financial Institution in our country to determine WHY?

We need to know. If laws have been broken, the criminals must be prosecuted and jailed. If they have profited from the misery they have caused, their profits must be confiscated!

Come on guys, actions really do speak louder than words!

I do however expect that within 12 months, a few scapegoats will emerge to compliment the “newly white washed system.”

To add insult to injury, unemployment and personal debt is silently increasing. There are now 2 million + unemployed (estimated by yours truly!).

Thirty years ago, if you didn’t have a job, you were simply classed as unemployed. Those responsible for calculating the number out of work today must definitely be tomorrow’s prize winning fiction writers!
In addition, there are 10 million + watching their credit cards rapidly reaching their credit limit? Time to stop being silent folks!!

Mr Cameron’s Brownie Points

All opposition parties have occupied their time scoring political “Brownie Points” from our misery! They’re called sound bites now-a-days!

Perhaps if they spent less time thinking up clever sound bites and more time on practical solutions….. But then they don’t get newspaper headlines for practical solutions.

The government’s practical solution is to throw more hundreds of billions of borrowed money at the banks with, it would appear, few terms and conditions.

If we, the tax payers are responsible for repaying these billions, a list of recipient Banks along with the total amount they’ve been advanced should be published along with the comprehensive terms and conditions.

Mr Cameron and Mr Osborne (the Shadow Chancellor) who are particularly good at sniping have continuously pointed the finger of blame but have procrastinated until the “Conservative Conference” to unveil their solution of more Regulators, this time in a new Government Department.

I’m looking forward to hearing how much this will cost the tax payers! I wonder if they actually know.

They also want the Bank of England to have the power to ensure that Banks are no longer able to lend more than they can afford.

I always assumed that this was already “policed” by the incompetent FSA Regulators!

Perhaps Mr Osborne will advise the Bank of England to appoint many of the FSA Regulators his new Department will put out of work to carry out this duty! I bet I’m not wrong!

This isn’t going to help anyone in trouble NOW!

Why don’t the Pinheads just shutup?

Do these Pinheads really live in the same world as we do?

Despite being constantly aware (maybe they weren’t) of increasing national misery for the past few months, the Conservative Shadow Cabinet have unanimously failed to come up with any form of structured solution.

My simple message particularly to Messrs Cameron and Osborne: If you have an alternative and workable solution to help us rid ourselves of this economic disaster, LET’S HEAR IT NOW!

If you don’t, and have nothing constructive to say, for God’s sake stop making the situation worse and SHUT UP!

How dare you play politics with our lives in order to advance your own careers.

Just a bunch of “Rich Bods” who know nothing about the real world!

Finally, let’s not forget the scores of economists, being paid exorbitant sums to advise the Treasury and both opposition parties. Surely they must have foreseen this situation?

They were obviously frozen into inaction.

Did they warn anyone? If so who?

We need to know who was responsible for keeping all of us in the dark!

If all the economists failed to notice anything, they’ve just proven themselves to be a waste of space!

I expect another scapegoat will ultimately be fired and given a golden handshake with a handsome pension in exchange for his / her silence!

I’ve just read this lot and decided I’m not in the least cranky, just furious that so few have so easily and expertly been allowed to bury this nation to the neck in manure.

I think we should unanimously insist that this Government remains for another term.

Mr Brown has told us he can fix it!

Why should we let him off the hook?
